Bridge the Gap to Your Australian Career: Professional Year Programs Explained

What is it?

A Professional Year Program (PYP) is a practical training program designed for international graduates from Australian universities. It combines coursework with an internship, equipping you with the skills and experience employers seek.

Who can apply?

  • Recent graduates with degrees in Accounting, Computer Science, or Engineering (or similar fields) from Australian universities.

  • Age limit: Under 50 years old.

  • Current visa: Skilled Graduate (Subclass 485) or Bridging Visa A or C with full work and study rights, and at least 12 months validity remaining.

Engineering graduates with degrees from outside Australia can also participate. They'll need to apply for a Skilled-Recognised Graduate visa (Subclass 476).

Why do it?

  • Gain valuable work experience: Complete an internship with an Australian company, building your resume and professional network.

  • Immerse yourself in workplace culture: Learn the ins and outs of Australian work practices and communication styles.

  • Boost your visa points: Earn 5 extra points towards skilled migration visas with the Department of Home Affairs.
